The water that exits out of Lake Tahoe and the surrounding Sierra Mountains eventually ends up traveling down the Truckee River which ends up at Pyramid Lake. This usual dry landscape seems strange to hold such a big body of water. Pyramid Lake is a remnant of a big ancient lake called Lake Lahanton. The brown pastel colors of the desert mixed with the vivid aqua blue of Pyramid Lake makes for some really cool photos.
