Although it was a powder day and the skiing was probably pretty good, we decide to take the kids instead to Palisades Tahoe for the Men’s World Cup Slalom race. The last time Tahoe hosted an Alpine World Cup race was back in 2017 for the women’s alpine events. We figured this was a rare chance to see a World Cup race in Tahoe and for sure would be a cool experience. Plus, no doubt we’d see friends from growing up racing in the Tahoe Truckee area. We didn’t chance not getting parking, so we left super early, picked up a good buddy Eddie who we raced with at UNR, and got in with relative ease. The race set up was really cool. They had a giant screen at the stadium where you could watch each racer up close from top to bottom. However you could see most of the course which was set on Red Dog. From what Christie and Eddie were saying Red Dog has some challenging pitches and combine that with the visibility from the blizzard the World Cup racers were definitely going to have a challenge.
Here are some photos of Alexander Steen Olsen who ended up wining the race.
Here are some photos of AJ Ginnis who ended up losing the victory after a disqualification that was a really close call.
Here are some more photos of all the Slalom racers that competed.
